Aims

ISMA aims to serve the Syriac community in multiple ways. The first dimension involves the creation of a network of suryoye medics. The second scope seeks to help the poor through charity. The last target is sharing knowledge, advice and guidance both medically and spiritually..

Networking

Our goal is to facilitate networking between Suryoye medics. The first step is utilizing the existing networks of Church, Facebook, and TV. Partnering with other organizations, such as church-affiliated groups, organizing of congresses or periodical meetings in different countries are the next steps. Every country may have a local executive committee which works closely with Vienna-ISMA executive committee.

Partnerships

Closely related to establishing networks within the suryoye community is our aim of partnering with other international humanitarian organizations.

To impart more credibility to the camp, collaboration with pharmacy concerns and government authorities, NGO’s such as Caritas, various European Union authorities, UNO Health departments, local Red-Cross organizations, or the Rotary Club are aimed..

Close cooperation with the archdioceses of our holy church enables us to use their facilities for the camps. However, it is also important to use clinics for events. These Events would boost the image of the clinics in the local market.

Qualified responses to medical questions

Offering advice to each other in our respective fields.

Medics sometimes receive medical questions from the Suryoye community, which they might not be qualified to give a solid response to. Through this big network of doctors in almost every specialty, medics can find the answer and advice.

Support

ISMA offers support to…

… …suryoye doctors, dentists and other medics

ISMA helps develop medical activities including medical services, teaching and research through organization and cooperation between members and branches of the association.

As ISMA aims to improve medical education, especially forsuryoye medics, they will be supported through observership in well-known departments / universities.

…suryoye students

We offer support for suryoye students in different ways, such as understanding the systems in place at Universities, writing recommendation letters or finding a residency.

…those in need

One of our principal objectives is to provide medical help to those in need, in certain church-affiliated hospitalsand by organizing free medical camps for the poor, weak, and marginalized people suffering from varied health complications, but lacking access to qualified care.

Platform for Discussions

We seek to provide our community with an opportunity to discuss various ethical, moral, medical, and spiritual issues when appropriate, involving medical ethical dilemmas as it pertains to our religious beliefs, such as end of life issues.

Religious Motivation

Psalm 41:1-3 Wohl „Blessed is he who considers the poor. GOD will deliver him in the day of evil. GOD will preserve him, and keep him alive. He shall be blessed on the earth, and he will not surrender him to the will of his enemies. GOD will sustain him on his sickbed, and restore him from his bed of illness.“

The main objective behind having a Syriac Medical Association is to serve the LORD via different avenues learning from Gospel.

In the Gospel, we see that our Lord Jesus Christ served various activities in medical field. He healed the lepers;he made the blind see and created eyes for those born blind. He healed the paralytic, andthe ear of the servant of the archpriest, after Peter cut it with his sword, and raised Lazarus from the dead after 4 days. He cured a woman with a bleeding uterus, and treated many people as being mad, as well as embraced the children, gave them love and took away their anxiety.

He cured Jyros’s daughter, who was presented to him with symptoms we may recognize to be a cardiac coma, if not death.
